Single Pitch Instructor Program Overview

This course was developed as a supplement to the pre-course material provided to students upon registration of a single pitch instructor (SPI) course. Students will be required to complete this online course before they arrive on the first day of an SPI course. Please plan 45 min to one hour for completion.

The Course will cover:

  • A brief history, the mission, programs, and certification levels of the AMGA SPI Program
  • A discussion on recreational climbing and how it differs from professional instruction
  • SPI program overview, including both the course and assessment
  • The Single Pitch Instructors’ scope of practice
  • Appropriate representation of AMGA training and certification level as it relates to AMGA brand use policy
  • Students will walk away with a better understanding of the Single Pitch Instructor program at the AMGA, the path to certification, how they fit into the organization, and what it means to represent themselves as climbing instructors for the terrain in which they work.

No previous knowledge or equipment needed for this course
